Have You Seen JESUS?

If you asked someone if they’d seen the Messiah, they might have thought you daft! Yet, if we have eyes to see and ears to hear we are blessed for Messiah said, “…truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” (Mathew 13: 17-18). Those who have seen Jesus were and are equipped by God to fulfill His Great Commission, which says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

So, the questions arise:

1.      Where do I go to see Jesus?

2.      What do I do when I see the Lord?

3.      And how will I know if I have really seen Christ?

The answer may seem so simple as to be ridiculous because in Matthew 13:17-18, Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Perhaps because of the above Scriptures you haven’t been looking for the Messiah. Yet, He has been looking for you! And because Christ longs to bring you into His forever family, He lets each of us see in others what we'd not see in ourselves.

I wrote today’s blog because I meet a Good Son whose desire is to help his mother, whose joy is in helping others. Through the loving relationship of these two people, I came to understand more fully what Messiah meant when He said, “How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” John 14:9b-15

Those in the world did not have the eyes to see Messiah then. And, I fear that though there are many like my friend and her son, who drew me closer to Jesus because of their selflessness, others would not see and be drawn closer to our Lord and Savior as I was!

To see Jesus today, is a very real possibility if you:

1.      Are seeking Him.

2.      Are willing to see and attest to what others don’t.

3.      Are eager to be used of God to the extent that You will proclaim what some might call daft!

What I Didn't Know About Writing & now The Christian Writers Connection!

Honestly, I didn't know I'd begun writing the Naomi Chronicles until I read a short portion of what would become book one of that saga, No Other Choice. While reading a snippet at the Shuvah Yisrael Women's Writer's Group, one of the members who'd been encouraging me to write exclaimed, "You're writing a book!" The women agreed and I discovered the lady who'd been encouraging me to write was a small Messianic publisher who wanted to publish my work! Bolster up by my husband and writers I began to write the story Naomi was telling me. 

I had written a weekly column called 'Teen Scene' for a San Diego paper when a teen, and while interning in a dually diagnosed psychiatric hospital, helped write the updated interne training manual. Neither of these experiences prepared me to write fiction. I must confess that I did not know writers must chose the 'voice' they were to write in... All I knew was that I would write as long as my heroine, Naomi was telling me her story.

Amazed to have found a publisher, and just months away from the first books release date, while doing a final read through, I discovered there was too much of me and not enough of Naomi. Though the task was daunting, I did a major rewrite. With the help of my editor, who’d read a portion and knew the book would be much better, the publisher agreed to postpone the release.  When preparing to send the second novel, Choosing to Be to the publisher, once again I had a lot to re-write.  

By the third book, Beginning Anew, I knew what was needed and looked forward to honing my skills.

Due to health issues, however, by the time I was preparing the fourth book, Commitment for Two for publication, I had forgotten what I'd learned and only realized this when working with a dear Christian author who offered to edit my work.

I share all of this today, to let anyone who is struggling with their writing process know out of the crucible of creation, readers are blessed. For James 1:17 says, Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Having the Lord lead me to found LAMB Ministries in 1988, I realized after the publication of several of Naomi books, that she is a fictional prototype of the hundreds, perhaps thousands of traumatized and abused women I've been blessed to mentor since believing in Yeshua (Jesus). Thought I studied to be a Chemical Dependency - Lifestyle Disorder Counselor who was offered a job at the psychiatric hospital I interned at before I completed my courses, I believe it was God's perfect timing to uproot our family and have me meet people who dearly loved the Lord.

Having asked Jesus to forgive me and made Him the Lord of my life before we moved, I attended church at a friend's invitation. Since my daughter, who was also a believer,liked the church, we decided to go there. My friend suggested I speak with Pastor Hurt. I meet with him and discovered I had a testimony! I asked him what Bible he used. On the way home I bought three; for my daughter, me, and my yet unbelieving husband. Within a week, I'd read the entire NIV Bible footnotes and all.

The following Sunday my daughter and I went early so we could attend Bible study. I attended a women's Bible study. When it was time for prayer, one woman shared that a lady friend of hers was a 'white knuckle alcoholic'. I told her about my studies and offered to give her a book once unpacked. Later that day, I got a phone call and agreed to meet with the woman. A month later, ten women had sought me out. LAMB Ministries was born when Pastor Hurt appointed me the head of Women's Lay-Counseling for our church. Each LAMB Ministry book is a short foundational teaching taken from this in-depth year long course.

5-Star Amazing Review 4 No Other Choice ~ Now 99 Cents!

My thanks to Beverly Lynnt for her 5-Star review! “Emotionally gripping, fascinating glimpse to a little-known period of history, eye opening! I have to say that this book and its sequel are some of the most intriguing reading I've experienced in a long while. It is the kind of story that makes you "walk a mile in someone else's moccasins." It is fiction, but based on history. That's one of the reasons I love these books by this author so much.

First, the author prefaces the piece by asking us to imagine "what if" our beliefs were what threatened our family's very lives. How would we live to survive? Suppose we saw our families and friends all around us killed or expelled or mistreated because of their similar beliefs? What would you do as a daughter of the house? Would you go into hiding? Live a lie? Fear for your life? Sacrifice for your family's safety? With this mindset established, Naomi is introduced to us just as she sets foot in immigration as a 15-year-old girl, about to be deported because the family that was supposed to support her suddenly refuses to sponsor her in America. But she is rescued. The question presented in this book is this: was that rescue a blessing or a curse? You have to read this story to find out.

This book and book two used to be one story. So you need to purchase the second book to find the resolution to the first, which ends on a mild cliff hanger. Fortunately, book two picks up about five minutes after the first ends. Since this is a series, I didn't mind that so much. But I feel you should know this and prepare to purchase both books together. In spite of that, book one is complete in that it encapsulates a complete idea and develops it thoroughly.

I enjoy getting to know a subculture of America I have never become acquainted with, in this case the Spanish Harlem area, or Harlem as it's known today. The author uses this setting to make the surrounding circumstances Naomi finds herself in alive and familiar. You get to know and somewhat understand her community, watch how Naomi sacrifices her life goals to play an important part of the barrio and in the lives of its citizens. The author writes this so well I felt as if I were part of the community.

Naomi herself is going through a transition. The reader becomes privy to her inner turmoil as she struggles to find her place in life. Then the author adds a sweet romance in the final chapters that brings all the circumstances to a head, adding slight tension in Naomi's character development.

I highly recommend this book, and of course, the entire series. It appears there is more to come, so I am looking forward to reading all the books based on how much I enjoyed the first two. I hope you will grow to love this series too.” http://amzn.to/1tN7hEp

Why Writing Book Reviews is IMPORTANT 2 Me

In the last two months, I’ve written 13 reviews all of them for 5-Star reads! One of the 13 reviews is for a cozy mystery written by a non-Christian.
