Biblical Recovery for Women a Best Seller? “How Did We Become Angry?” Lauded by Amazon!

Can a book about how to recover from trauma and abuse by using Scripture and prayer become an Amazon Best Seller and be named a New Hot Book? Yes it can! And more importantly, YES, we abused women can overcome because Messiah made it possible once and for all, for He has become our peace…our shalom. And we are the heirs of His everlasting covenant which He secured for us by being born of a virgin, living a sinless life, being crucified, and on the third day being resurrected for us so we could proclaim to the world as He did, “It is finished!”

We, like Him can claim, “It is finished, and mean, I am done with fear, pain and disowning who we are to fit into a family system that doesn’t uphold the rights of each person to individuate. I am done with pretending that being in emotional turmoil or physical pain is something that’s normal. In other words, today, I am claiming that I am a unique person, fearfully and wonderfully created by God and as such I have the right to be me!”

Want to put an end to your pain and see how Messiah (Jesus) will use it for His gain? Think it can't be done? Follow me and see that with Jesus all this and more is possible when you believe because He is really real!

Life is Defined by Choices, Make None and…

With the release of, “How Did We Become Angry? Biblical Recovery for Women Suffering from Trauma & Abuse”, which is a Christian self-help book, those who’ve read my sweet Christian romances with a Messianic twist and a hint of history asked me why I have written in two such dissimilar genres. Today, I’m posting the answer I’ve given them, which I tweeted this morning.

As the title of this blog says, I believe that life is defined by our choices. For me this means that the life I live, I try to live as Messiah (Christ) did in that I am what I say I am, and do what I say I’ll do.

For those who have been abused this act of congruency is not something they saw growing up, so it is frightening to act in accord with values and feelings that are hidden. My fictional heroine, Naomi grew up in a place where generations of her people we taught to disown themselves just like all who are abused do. We need to overcome!!Think that can’t be done? Think again! Father Abraham did it, Moses did it, a shepherd boy named David did it, Daniel did it, Nehemiah did it, and our high priest who stands at the right hand of God interceding for those who have claimed atonement in him; yes even Jesus did it!

The question that no one has asked thus far, is one I’ll answer today, ie. “Is there a difference between the generational fear that causes people to teach each generation to hide, and individual fear generated by a particular issue, person, or situation?”

The answer is a universal, “No! There is no difference. At its root fear occurs where God is not present, and His Word is not studied. Where God is sovereign, fear which is the antithesis of God’s shalom His peace which transcends all human understanding changes our reaction, cannot be understood or entered into. Thus choosing to believe that with God all things are possible, we, the abused have purposed a new life based on the future instead of being trapped by the past.

Heart Healing Yours for the Asking

When wounded people cast our issues upon the God that is higher than we are, healing begins. When those in dire need wait  for others to 'Fix' us, we become trapped in the 'waiting game'. If the 'Fix' isn't what we needed, we can feel doubly trapped because whether we do nothing and stay stuck or admit that what we received didn't work, we reveal our hurt. Fear grips us making us feel as if somehow we are responsible for tearing what's left of our shattered personhood apart.

God is not like man, whom He fashioned and expelled from Eden because of sin. No! God in Mathew 11:18 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” And God’s rest is not like that of man, for it a rest from our hateful self-talk stilling all voices but His as you draw near to Him until all you can here is, “I have loved you with an everlasting love (Psalm 103:17). And, “I have drawn you with unfailing kindness (Jeremiah 31:3). Finally we are told by Messiah (Christ) in John 16:24, “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”

I know it is hard to ask after asking for so many times that you, like me, have probably lost track. But God has not lost track, and He does hear you. Ask again, this time with the understanding that God will not change your situation as if you had no options but to deal with whatever He chooses for you. You were created with a free will, which He will never violate.

Therefore, if you wish to be free, you must knowingly enter into the process of asking God to help you heal your heart, for then, and only then will you become the you, you wish to be. And believe me, though unseen, Messiah will walk along side, and sometimes even carry you.

An Amazing Author Gives this Author’s Book 5 Stars!

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Katie Mettner posted her review of “How Did We Become Angry? Biblical Recovery for Women Suffering from Trauma & Abuse”, which is available in Kindle during the time I was promoting her latest, and think her best fiction thus far on this blog.

So, as a fitting tribute to Katie’s writing prowess, and because this review is one of my faves, here’s what she said, “I had the opportunity to read How Did We Become Angry?, and I was surprised by how easy the book was to read, and how well the author put Scripture into the book to show you exactly what she means with her ideas. There is something every one of us has to deal with in our lives that left us angry, sad or traumatized. Often our self-esteem is destroyed before we are even old enough to understand what it means, and that can begin a life of bad decisions as we look for someone, or something to make us feel worthy. I know this is the first of several books, and I look forward to the next one and reading from the Scriptures the author picks for it.

If you are on a journey to let go of your anger and move on with a positive, self-accepting life, I highly recommend this book. http://amzn.to/1gljnYV

My 5 Star Review Katie Mettner's "Granted Redemption"

Two Wounded People Learning to Love & Trust God Makes This a MUST Read!

I began ready Katie Mettner's "Granted Redemption", and I could not put it down! With a deft hand, the author shows us what others take pages to explain, and that's only one of the reasons I urge each of you who like to read romance to read/review this book. I do need you to know that if you're looking for a squeaky clean Christian read, this isn't it. But if you want to read about people that are so real they leap right off the page, people who fear, yet yield to their needs and find God in the process, this is a novel you don't want to pass up! As an author who reads/reviews "P" or "PG" books, I would say "Granted Redemption" is VERY "PG”, for it's a book I would defiantly want to see made into a movie because it illustrates so clearly the impact of life as many wounded people know it. Yet shows us that people can chose to do more than just survive!  http://amzn.to/1juCIsA

Author, Katie Mettner

Having read Katie Mettner's first book "Sugar's Dance", and  gotten to know her through Twitter, I let her know that I was more than a fan. That was the beginning of a wonderfully affirming long distance friendship, which I treasure, for Katie is a real as her books are!  Growing up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin the author shared with me that she moved to the Northwoods where she now resides with her husband and three children. As a young adult Katie enjoyed ballroom dancing and like "Sugar" she didn’t let her physical limitations hold her back from what she loved. Katie writes The Sugar Series, Sugar’s Dance and Sugar’s Song, a Christian romance series. Her stories are a reflection of her love for family intricately woven with life experience. When the gales of November blow early you can find her at the computer with a cup of joe, listening to Michael BublĂ© and working on her next book.

And yes, you can tell from this picture that the issue Katie writes about, she lives because of a first time skiing accident. However, what the picture doesn't show is the countless hours she donates to work with amputees, and how much her input has helps those making the prosthetic she and many others wear.

The Wilderness of Self-Doubt or Becoming

Choices shape us. Yet having been unable to choose, when faced with choices we can become overwhelmed and do nothing. When we know we must change or die a little each day because we realize that staying stuck is self-defeating we become scared and want to hide. Yet the fear that hems us in on all sides can make it impossible to choose to become

I know about this all too well. I've been where you are and through choosing to become, I've found my voice, which now calls out to you in the wilderness of self-doubt, for whether I write fiction or nonfiction, I always write about choices and the effect they have upon us.

Now in Kindle the first of my seven nonfiction Christian self-help books: “How Did We Become Angry? Biblical Recovery for Women Suffering from Trauma & Abuse” was lauded by Amazon as a “Best Seller” 9 days after it released! http://amzn.to/1gljnYV

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, so…

I felt it appropriate to post reviews I recently written for books dealing with the issue of abuse. The books I'm featuring were written by those who have, as children, lived that horror. Typing these words, I thought about Karen Slimick Arnpriester, and Lori Tice's books, and my feelings alternated between unspeakable sorrow and amazing joy because these authors are overcomers! Yes, children who claimed a new life rather than repeat what happened to them. Children who are healthy, whole, and have given back tenfold from a position of awareness that few have, therefore it is my immense pleasure to introduce you to two of my favorite authors, who I also treasure as human beings that carry the torch of awareness thus lighting the way for those who need to see that recovery and a good life can be theirs.

Slimy by Karen Slimick Arnpriester is a 5 star must read! This thought provoking true story is so riveting that if I could, I would give this real, raw and important book 10 stars and insist that all those who have been bullied, parents, councilors, and pastors read this book. Having worked with abused and traumatized women since the inception of LAMB Ministries in August of 1988, I have found that with every passing decade the 'onwness' of the bullying is most often blamed on the victim(s). Into this lie of shame and blame, Karen Slimick Arnpriester's work of truth is a beacon to the wounded and a glaring light that exposes the lie being perpetrated today for what it is! This breakthrough book is on my handout list, and I believe that once you read it, it will be on yours as well for those who are struggling need to know that they can, as Karen did, claim the life they want to live! http://amzn.to/1in3DK2

You Are Not Alone -  A True Story of Surviving the Rapids of Abuse by Lori Tice is another must read 5 star revelation! Gripped by fear, trapped, isolated, told to love an abusive mom who did to her what on one should, author Lori Tice shows us a reality that would scare most for life. Because her older sister had taken her to church early on, we see that though Lori did not know Christ, the awareness the she was not 'alone' in her trials when her sister married and left, gave her hope beyond reason and carried her through. As the abuse escalated, Lori lost all sense of herself. Yet she always believed she wasn't what her mom told her she was.

In her teens, desperate and isolated, she discovered that she had value beyond her wildest imaginings because Christ died for her and would carry her through.

Ending up in abusive relationships one after another as an adult, Lori finally realized that the one who'd always been with her was there for her and able to help her make the choices that would forever free her and help her create the life she had been created to live. For God wanted to heal her, wanted a relationship with her, and would never hurt of demean her. http://amzn.to/Qb64Fb

If any of you who read this posting are being or have been hurt, I want you to know that I care and many others do too. Because it is painfully hard to break the silence, let me share that I've been where you are, and so have these authors. There is help, so please don’t go through is alone. Take my hand and together, you too can become an overcomer. You can email me through this blog, or if you’d like to remain anonymous but need help, you can select one of the books I've reviewed, or pick up my Christian self-help Lamb Ministries: 7X7 Biblical Recovery for Women Suffering from Trauma & Abuse, Book One. http://amzn.to/1gljnYV

Knowing how hard it is to trust a faceless person, whom you know nothing about, by way of introduction, I've posted my bio and picture and hope you'll know when you read about me, that I have indeed, through Gods grace, been able to help many women.

What do my LAMB Ladies and my Fictional Heroine, Naomi Have in Common?

Being an author of what many call sweet ‘Christian fiction with a Messianic twist and a hint of history’, and nonfiction LAMB Ministry Book(s), some have asked if these books have anything in common. So, I'll show you how abuse continues to impact the abused and why more than 500 years after the Spanish Inquisition began generational fear
continues to cause Sephardic Jews, like Naomi too disown their own reality.

Before I begin, I need to share one very important concept with you, that is congruency, for too own oneself they must think and act congruently. Those trapped in abuse are taught to live a lie and in doing this, they disown themselves. Whether the reason seems valid to us or not, these individuals fear of being found out and the possibility of reprisals escalating will keep most trapped unto the third and fourth generation as we read in Exodus 34:7-8 which says, "...Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes them and their children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generation."

Those longing to be free of what went before, as Naomi and my LAMB Ladies do, when we first meet, or read about them, have many issues in common, here are a few of them:

Family secrets
Fear of reprisals
A desire to fix the situation
Do not know how to change things
Fear that trying to change things will make them worse
Have been taught that they cannot survive outside the system they are in
Lack the skills that would ensure them they could succeed in the world

Fearful of finding out that what they have been told about themselves is really true they will most likely: recreate the same system, marry into a system that looks healthy but isn't, or bond with another abuser.

But the Good News is that in Messiah (Christ), Exodus 34:7-8 has no hold on us for in Yeshua (Jesus) we are free of what went before! All we have to do is claim His victory, so take my hand and I'll show you how.

LAMB Ladies Learn to Exchange Their Pain for God’s Gain

Issues stemming from abuse and trauma can make LAMB Ladies think their thoughts must be like everyone else’s. Because they want to fit in more than they want to be their real self they hide who they are and that can intensify the feeling that they’re not good enough. When someone befriends them in their heart they cannot enjoy the relationship because deep down they think that if the person really knew who they were they’d leave them or worse!

However, God says in Psalm 103: 12, "...as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."

Want to own yourself and create a new reality?

Need to discover that your thoughts and feelings matter?

Sad that you don't like many things about you?

I've been where you are and with God's love, help, and His Word, I've been set free! My LAMB Ladies have been too, and so can YOU! To help you on your way: http://amzn.to/1gljnYV

Here's a song that my LAMB Ladies and me sing each time we meet. I hope as you sing it you remember that change, grown, and restoration happen in God's time and with His blessing?

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Join the LAMB Ladies and exclaim, “God danced the day I was born!”

If you’re tired of the small talk that hides what’s inside. If you feel as if making do won’t due anymore for you, and if trying to make yourself into a replica of what you think you’re supposed to be makes you feel worse than you did before, it’s because God has a better plan for you than you can see while in the pain.

If you’re where I was, you’ve nothing to lose but staying stuck in the same old, same old like all my LAMB Ladies were…then try to image a happy you, one that’s not pretending to be, one that’s happy by just being the ‘SHE’ God created you to be!

And if you do what my LAMB Ladies decided to do one day you to will exclaim, as we have, "God danced on the day I was born!”

Just thinking how very true that is makes me smile. Just knowing that you’ll be smiling to when you meet the real fabulous YOU brings me joy!

If you're, like me, and all who’ve done as we did because being stuck was too painful to endure then take my hand, and I’ll show you a loving God who knew you before he formed the world. The God who hurts for you when you’re in pain. The God who has always known you name, and has it engraved on the palm of his hand.

Author, Paula Rose Michelson
Even as a child in Elementary school, Paula Rose Michelson’s greatest joy was befriending and helping others kids because doing that allowed her to see herself as a person who had value. When her mother asked, “Can’t you find any normal kids to bring home?” Paula’s response, “There are no normal people,” laid the bedrock of her life and was the foreshadowing of LAMB Ministry.

Stumped, her mom understood that this child was one who was not like the others.

So, if you’re feeling misunderstood or have been told, “You are, different than…this woman, who has walked alone down the road you’re on, can show you the blessings inherent in realizing the truth of these few worlds that she penned to her grandson, which say

“You get to be you, and I get to be me. All you have to do is figure out who you want to be.” Paula knows that though it’s easy to say, owning your own reality when you haven’t done that before can be frightening.

However, one day you’ll see that staying stuck because you fear what’ll happen isn’t worth the pain, especially since giving it to Messiah means he’ll use it to shed light into someone else’ life, and that, Paula believes, is when you’ll begin to see God in the midst of your once painful reality!

LAMB Ladies, Stop “The Committee in Your Head” by Realizing that Your Choices, not Other Peoples Voices Creates Your World!

Whether you’re reading: “How Did We Become Angry? Biblical Recovery for Women Suffering from Trauma & Abuse” or my sweet Christian romances with a Messianic twist, you’ll discover that I always write about choices. So, I’ve posted this song and hope you’ll listen while you read a little something I wrote many years ago, which exemplifies the plight of those who’ve, for whatever reason, been made to feel ‘less than’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRZHKNHoRfc

The ‘Committee in Your Head’ can tear you apart, or you can find out how to silence them from telling you, “What are you doing here? You know you don’t belong? You’ll never fit in! So go back home before it all begins again!"

Want to know why I know that? It’s because I was where you are now and didn’t know how to get out. So, when I was invited to someone’s house for a 7pm meeting, I went because my husband wanted me too. I didn’t expect anything new. You see, I’d tried, at my husband’s insistence, too visit with the neighborhood moms who sat outside on summer nights sipping an iced tea. When I said something, they would stare at me. Then they’d turn to each other and continue where they’d left off as if I didn’t count. I felt invisible, like I didn’t exist. And speaking in hushed undertones, I was certain that I was being disked. Unlikedfriendless, except for those who were all to eager to stop by and add to the voices in my head that hated me, I felt 'less than'.

Then I go home, and my sweetie-pie would tell me that what I was hearing wasn’t true…God I loved that man cause he made me feel sane.

Today, I love Messiah more because God showed me what was true, and in the process I discovered that I only go where I’m affirmed, which is exactly what my husband knew all along.

A "How Did We Become Angry?" "Scriptue is Always Personal" LAMB Moment

Gods Word Can...

Whether preparing for this Sunday or any other day always remember that God’s Word, and how that Word affects you is always personal. In Deuteronomy 11:18-22, God says, “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates,  so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth. If you carefully observe all these commands I am giving you to follow—to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to Him and to hold fast to him—

With God’s help, Godly counsel, and a determined heart, you can do it.” http://amzn.to/1gljnYV

How "Did We Become Angry?" Now in Kindle!

Author Allison Kohn says, “This is something everyone needs. For those of you who have had a perfect life, it is important that you know some of what those of us whose lives have been affected by angry loved ones who like to put others down, or our own anger have gone through or are going through. For others, like me, who have gone through the fire and come out stronger, there is always something new we can learn or learn over again. I have come a long way, but I needed to hear, ‘To fear anger or its effects is tantamount to being stuck in the past,’ and ‘…we can only be healed of issues we know we have, living a past that hurts so much we wouldn’t wish it on anyone, the only way to heal is through what happened.”

One day when I was sitting outside on the porch steps with a book in my hand a friend had given me, I was thinking I didn’t need it and was doing just fine; but I opened it and begin to read. I sat out there and read the whole thing and thanked God for sending it. God gave me a verse to heal me and showed me how to apply everything I read in his word and every sermon to that verse for twenty years. Running The Race as a Winner is the result of that verse. God has given all of the women that see this is a blessed book to show you the way out of anger against yourself and others. You who are wise will get this book and never be sorry.” http://amzn.to/1gljnYV

How Did We Become Angry is…
In this first book of her "Lamb Ministries 7x7: Biblical Recovery for Women Suffering from Trauma & Abuse" books, author, Paula Rose Michelson teaches the reader biblically relevant concepts, and shows us how to choose the right Scriptures to heal our personal wounds. She sets up a system of praying our personal Scriptures in a prescribed manner and time to purge out the dross, believing that each reader who does the work can overcome what was before and grab hold of God’s blessings in Messiah. Then the author walks us though a portion of her own healing journey, which the Lord orchestrated. Then she tells us how those experiences helped women in need as she worked with her LAMB Ladies.
